Rumble Screen ResoLUTION

Remember for ALL videos, manually select the highest resolution in the lower right of the Rumble player.  Press the GEAR and choose the one at the bottom of the list.

Create a Run Motion Clip

Create Path / Attach Character

  1. Start a new project
  2. Turn Auto Extend and Loop on, on the timeline
  3. Create a path that is 14 squares long.
  4. Add a character
  5. Attach the Character to the path
    1. Check Follow path
    2. -Y axis
    3. Move the character to 300 frames or 5 seconds
    4. Move the path position to 100%
  6. Move the timeline back to 0

Record the Run Motion

  1. Open Animation >> Motion puppet
  2. Record 5 Seconds of Basic Run
  3. Check Constraint on the character menu options
  4. Right click on the beginning and end of the constraint >> Path Position% >> Transition Curve >> and select Linear

Fix the waist

  1. Open Accupose
  2. Lock all the positions using Accupose
  3. Rotate the waist
  4. Close Accupose

Set Gesture to Hands

  1. Open Animation >> Apply Gesture options >> Both
  2. Content >> Animation >> Gestures
  3. Set gesture to what you want

Save the Run Motion Clip

  1. Get a close up of the character in run pose
  2. Set the timeline end marker to the end of the motion
  3. Re-Set the time to 0
  4. Highlight the Motion Clip in the timeline
  5. Select Custom and Save
  6. Save Options >> Animation >> Motion then Save

Path Animation From a Motion Clip

  1. Add a Character
  2. Apply a Motion Clip
  3. Extend the motion clip to 3 segments

Change the direction of the actor

  1. Select the Actor
  2. Select Motion Direction Control (the two big arrows) on the Timeline
  3. The blue path should appear, if not, click on the actor and try again
  4. Rotate the actor and the blue path will change direction
  5. Extend the run motion on the timeline to see the blue path extend or reduce

Add path to actor on the motion clip

  1. Create a new path with turns that is about the same length as the blue path was.  Remember you can place a prop at the end of the blue line to see how long a path can be created.
  2. Attach the actor to the new path and set the start (0%) and end point (100%) along the new path
  3. Press play and the motion will follow the path

Removing the Actor from the Path

  1. Go to end of a path and just pass it and detach from path
    1. Use Accupose to set poses
    2. Right click on the motion timeline to select Auto Blend for Selected Clip

Remember!

  1. If you use poses from Accupose and the actor jumps to the origin point:
    1. Right click on the motion timeline and select
      1. Reset Pivot and/or
      2. Align with Previous motion layer and/or
      3. Align >> then with the left or right foot of previous motion clip

Some combination of the above will fix many of your problems.

Right clicking on the animation “I Beam” also gives you

  1. BREAK – which can break a motion clip to a smaller piece
  2. FLATTEN MOTION CLIP – Sometimes iClone calls for you to flatten a clip to perform the motion you are trying.
  3. SET SPEED – You can slow down that sequence
  4. TRANSITION CURVE – Remember, using Linear can resolve some animation issues with sync.
